Halifax was founded on June 21st 1749 and became a Royal Navy dockyard in 1759. The first Post office in North America opened here in 1755 and the City of Halifax was incorporated in 1841. In 1819, the first democratic legislature in Canada.The first live radio news broadcast from Canada in 1936
Halifax is now home to 7 Universities, the first founded in 1789, and unsurprisingly over 700 Bars Pubs & Taverns, There is a Casino, fine dining and all forms of clubs, dives, venues, happenings and events.
